Prepare for the installation or relocation of the Vertical Storage Systems
If you’re facing the dismantling, assembly, or relocation of a Vertical Storage System, it can be hard to know where to start. Decisions need to be made and preparations need to be made—but it doesn’t have to be that complicated. In this guide, we’ll share our tips on where to start and how to best prepare.
Who can perform installation or relocation services?
You can always contact the manufacturer for these types of services, but there are also many other companies that specialize in relocating and installing industrial machinery. Sometimes the manufacturer may not be able to accommodate your schedule, and it’s also a good idea to compare different quotes. Feel free to send us an inquiry, and we’ll be happy to provide you with a quote as well.
How much does it cost?
Disassembly, assembly, or relocation typically requires two technicians and 1–3 days of work per Vertical Storage System; the cost is usually between 6 000 EUR and 7 000 EUR (relocation: 7 500 EUR–12 000 EUR) per Vertical Storage System. The price is primarily determined by the Vertical Storage Systems’ specifications and accessibility within the facility.
What needs to be prepared?
Whether you’re moving a Vertical Storage System in or out, there are preparations you can make to simplify the work for both you and the installers; below are a few common examples.
Inspect the property
Will any modifications to the property be required to install or remove the Vertical Storage Systems? It may be helpful to perform the following checks:
- Are there any pallet racks, fire protection systems, sprinkler systems, or ceiling beams that would prevent installation?
- Is there space to store the Vertical Storage Systems before or after installation?
- Is the floor at the installation site sturdy, level, and clean?
Talk to an electrician
If Vertical Storage Systems are to be installed, a licensed electrician must be called in; this usually involves running a power supply to the installation site.
Packaging materials
When dismantling a Vertical Storage System, you are normally expected to provide your own packing materials for the dismantled unit. A Vertical Storage System typically requires approx. 25 EU pallets; if you have reinforced long pallets, 10–15 pallets may suffice. In addition to the pallets, it is helpful to have strapping and, if necessary, simple dunnage boards available. If you are unable to provide the packing materials, the installer can offer this as an additional service.
Forklift and scissor lift
Loading and unloading from the truck requires a forklift or a high-lift hand truck, which is expected to be available on site. The installation work also requires a scissor lift suitable for the height at which the installation will take place. If you are unable to provide either a forklift or a scissor lift, the installer can provide these as an additional service.
With these preparations, you’ll be ready for any installation—once you get started, the process usually goes very smoothly. If you need further assistance, we’re always here to help—feel free to contact us!
